It is easy to spend too much time thinking about your CV.
- You change the wording.
- Move sections around.
- Adjust formatting.
- Rewrite the summary.
- Change the template.
- Those things can help.
But your CV is not your career.
It is a communication tool.
Its job is to help someone understand enough about your experience to decide whether a conversation is worth having.
That means the underlying evidence matters more than clever formatting.
- Can you describe the work you have actually done?
- Can you explain what you were responsible for?
- Can you explain the problems you encountered?
- Can you describe what you learned?
- Can you talk about decisions you made?
- Can you explain your contribution honestly?
A strong CV cannot manufacture experience. And a poor CV can hide useful experience.
So work on both.
Build real capability.
Then learn to communicate it clearly.
Do not spend all your energy polishing the document while neglecting the experience the document is supposed to represent.
Your CV opens a door.
Your capability has to carry you through it.
